A new restaurant space brings new menus
Our new restaurant space; new menus and plenty of space for large group bookings.
The biggest challenge for both The Old School Inn and our customers over the past year has been the noise from the busy bar area crossing into the restaurant on a Friday and Saturday night and similarly those drinking in the bar having very limited space to sit!
Our new restaurant space is now completely finished and in full use on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
To reflect that we now have two clear menus for both spaces both of which are available during the week in the bar - with the weekends seeing the split to create two different environments to suit all of our customers.
For the restaurant menu, Head chef Daniel Sung has integrated some of his signature fusion dishes with the Pan fried Sea bass fillets, lemongrass, chilli, lemon zest, coconut milk & potato fondants plus the classic and elegantly presented Thai Chicken Green curry with jasmine rice.
Starters see King Scallops, pea purée & pancetta or a Duck Liver parfait, Pumpernickel bread, Apple & Orange chutney added as options whilst mains range from Braised blade of beef, roasted root vegetables, garlic, five spice & red wine jus, to Pan fried Halibut, braised fennel, creamy lemon & dill sauce or a 10oz Ribeye, warmed duck liver pate, watercress purée, rosemary dauphinoise potatoes.
Plus we have great vegetarian main of Stilton, pear and walnut Tart Tatin, herb dressing and balsamic reduction and as always we champion catering to those with dietary demands where our staff will be fully briefed as to what dishes can be accommodated to what needs.
The bar menu will see the ‘little plates’ or bar snacks menu extended and importantly available at night plus all the ‘pub classics’; burgers, the grill menu, salads and easy food in the bar space. Ultimately we have created two atmospheres for the weekend; an elegant dining room with a new menu for those who wish for a glamorous (and slightly less noisy) meal out, plus a bar menu and adapted space to allow for drinks out, more seating, snacks, light bites and last minute easy meals with no fuss.
