New Wines in the House
This week The Old School Inn has added two wines to our wines available by the glass and to the wine list for diners.
After much customer demand we’ve added a Rioja; the Urbina Tempranillo is an unoaked juicy Rioja with richness of flavour you expect, but without any heavy, oaky notes. Beautifully smooth and velvety with the emphasis on deep, ripe berry fruits. It is delicious with or without food.
Fresh and elegant, it’s an absolute bargain at £19.95 by the bottle or respectively £5.25/£6.95 for 175ml/250ml by the glass.
To the Whites available, we’ve added a classic Italian Gavi (Gigi Rosso) with an Intense straw yellow colour and greenish highlights. It has a delicate and characteristic bouquet and on the palate it’s a pleasantly dry, fresh and harmonious taste. An excellent aperitif, but can also accompany appetizers or light main courses - so great with a bit of a snack in the bar.
The Gavi sits between a drier version of our current Hungarian Pinot Grigio which has a slight fruit and floral appeal and crisper and more elegant than our Citrus led Chilean Sauvignon Blanc.
It is a classy Italian – which reflects in the price at the higher end of the glass measures at £5.50 (175ml) or £7.50 (250ml), or just bite the bullet and get a bottle to linger over at £21.95.
Great wines for great times.
