Spring in the air and also in our step
The Old School Inn has teamed up with local business Isle Lose it to produce a variation of our NEW spring menu offering; no carbohydrate, no sugar, gluten free and super healthy versions of our dishes.
Our new main spring menu offers; fresh mussels as standard throughout the seasons they are at their best, our classic Old School burger has been summer styled with Brie, sun dried tomatoes and caramelised onions, rump of Lamb is a hero dish with summery flavours and bags of colour on the plate, our Wellington dishes have always been in high demand so a Chicken and basil variation brings that classic right into season, plus we’ve brought the pub classic of gammon, eggs and watercress back into the menu as a lighter option for a simple pub meal. Finally the delicate sea bass and gambas dish and the robust cod fillet with more summer style make for lots of new choices.
Plus keep your eyes on the face book page for super seasonal game specialities, venison, kale, crab, and plenty of spring lamb.
We’ve kept the infamous Black pudding in our starters as customers just love it and integrated two fresh salad variations; smoked duck, honey & orange and the marinated smoked salmon, lime and rhubarb. Our vegetarian starters, as well as two new main options are also new and refreshed.
The puddings go seasonal with new rhubarb variations on the classic crumble, a mouth watering take on the Crème Brülée and again adding summer styles to our popular panacotta. Warm chocolate brownies with fresh raspberries finish off the changes as well as seasonal flavour creeping into our homemade ice-creams and sorbets.
All the new dishes have been integrated and married into the Isle Lose it menu, replacing mash and chips with roasted vegetables, butternut squash and parsnip chips, more salads, pinching healthy bits from other dishes and creating new ones including a very clever chocolate tart recipe. Making eating out for those conscious of diets, or our customers with complex dietary needs – a piece of cake!
We are really excited about spring and summer with the great outdoor evening sun that the garden benefits from. Two new menus and two great seasons ahead.
The new menus are available from Wednesday 26th March 2014. See the menu page for details.
